Tech Minion has been busy!
Somewhere deep in the bowels of the laser den, there are the “bitflingers” (aka webservers to everyone but the Tech Minion.) The Tech Minion locked himself in the backroom and started tinkering. Occasionally, we would hear demands for Mt Dew and Cool Ranch Doritos. Finally, he stepped out of the darkness amid the blinky server lights and collapsed clutching a wadded up bunch of Post-it notes in his hand.
It turns out he had been productive!
SSL has been added across the board.
If you look up at the address bar, you’ll see that everything is now served via HTTPS. According to the tech minion that means that everything is now served with SSL encryption by default. After much to-ing and fro-ing we figured out that this means that everything you see on our site is hidden from prying eyes and random snoopers. Now, the Tech Minion has always been a bit paranoid and has quite the hat collection (especially of the tin-foil variety), but he makes a good point: you need to be able to trust that when you are ordering from us, that everything is secure, private and trustworthy.
Webstore has been rebuilt from the ground up.
The Tech Minion had been growing increasingly dissatisfied with the software we had been using for the webstore and was itching to make the switch to something more robust. Well, in a Mt Dew and Doritos fueled frenzy, he has done it. He rambled on about database-whatsits, integration-doohickeys, and a bunch of other stuff that I can’t even begin to understand, but what he ended up with is a webstore that should be good for years to come!
Newsletter is now handled by… Monkeys?!!!
Yep… he did it. He has integrated Mailchimp into our newsletter system. Now, I don’t have a lot of bananas sitting around so I was a bit scared of letting the Tech Minion play with the monkeys. But, when he explained that our customers can now have direct control over their email subscriptions I was convinced. Now, I know this will never happen, but if you ever want to stop getting our emails, all you have to do is hit the link in email and… POOF! No more emails!
Until next time!
